Thank you all for attending our Bicycle & Brunch MeetUp and Charity Fundraiser with our sponsor restaurant Tavern on Broad. 11 people accompanied our ride leader, David Simons of MeetUps, and our resident cyclist and President and Founder of BiciSoul, Andrew Wong, performed as “sweep” during the ride. We had different bicycles on our recreational ride along the Schuylkill River and West River Drive — from Indego bicycles to cruisers to cyclocross bicycles. We went at a slow pace at around six to 12 mph so anyone of anyone skill can keep up. Around 12:30, we gathered and ate brunch at Tavern on Broad. After resting a bit, five of us went to Parks on Tap on the Schuylkill Banks for beers and slushies.
We raised $55 gross donation with some donating $10 to the cause when we asked was $5 per rider. The net donation will be donated to the Philadelphia chapter of the American Red Cross in their continued efforts to eradicate heart disease and benefit those with heart transplants. We can’t thank the cyclists enough! Next time, we’re going to hope for more — more cyclists and more families — to join our ride and join our cause.
